Permafrost crafting and blueprints

Learn recipes, choose the correct station, and turn junk into useful crafting materials.

Three different systems

Hand crafting, blueprint learning, and workbench crafting are separate. A skill point does not automatically unlock a blueprint. Learn the entry in the Blueprints menu, then use the station named by the recipe.

Check what an entry unlocks before spending points: some display names are confusing, especially the Compound Bow.

Build your first crafting chain

Start with the tools in the beginner guide. Use the cabin’s Cloth to make Rope and progress to a Crude Bow and arrows.

At House Camp, follow the Scrap tool and four-wall renovation objectives, then build Anna’s Stove. Cooking needs a primary ingredient and an enhancer, plus fuel. This cooking requirement does not apply to every production station.

Recycle before building your own station

The church has a public Dismantle Bench. Recycle Metal Junk into Scrap and Plastic Junk into Processed Plastic. You do not need to build a personal bench first.

The personal Disassembly Bench uses Iron Ingots, not raw Iron Ore. The Stone Furnace’s coal recipe uses 3 Wood → 2 Coal.

Choose the station by the output

Goal Where to start
Processed Plastic Church Dismantle Bench
Quality Metal Professional Smelter
Clothing Tailoring Bench after learning the recipes
Compound Bow Check its blueprint unlock, then the workbench recipe

When an unlocked recipe is absent

Some blueprint entries, including sledgehammers, are placeholders. The craftable fast-travel recipe and Large Wooden Chest can also be absent after their expected unlock. Repeated point spending is not a reliable fix. Check sledgehammers and fast travel before gathering a large batch of materials.
