Co-op
Permafrost co-op setup and connection fixes
Host a world for up to four players, join friends, and avoid common connection and quest-reward problems.

Host a multiplayer world
- Choose Play → Host Multiplayer.
- Create a world or select an existing one. Set a password and player limit; co-op supports up to 4 players.
- Turn Private off if friends need to find the session in the browser.
- Load into the world and reach the cabin before guests join.
A world launched through Solo is not a multiplayer session.
Join your friend
Choose Play → Join Multiplayer, select the host’s session, enter the password, and wait for loading. For a Steam invite, launch the game and reach the main menu before accepting.
If a session is missing, compare game versions, check password spaces and free slots, and make sure the host has finished loading. Restart the session if these checks are correct.
Characters, dogs, and quests
Characters belong to their world; a separate solo character does not import into a friend’s world. Load the same world next time to resume progress.
The dog belongs to the host. A guest can see a harness-display problem. Let the host handle main-quest conversations and reward boxes, especially The Way Home.
Invalid token or connection failure
Check that Steam is online. If you use a VPN, test whether it affects the connection. Do not assume every invalid-token error has the same cause.
The supported PC route is Windows and Steam; do not assume Linux or compatibility-layer behaviour matches the Windows session flow.
