Getting started in Permafrost

Get warm first

Gather loose Rock Shards or Stone and collect Wood from bushes. Open the Building Tool and place a Campfire with 2 Stone. Add Wood for fuel, open its menu with F, and use X to ignite it. Wait for the “Warm Yourself Up” objective to register before moving on.

Keep your first gathering trips short. Return to the fire before the cold becomes an emergency.

Make your first tools

Stone Shiv	1 Stone, 2 Wood	Open the cabin

Make the Shiv and enter the cabin. The next crafting chain uses Cloth → Rope → Crude Bow → Wooden Arrows. Follow the active journal objective as you craft.

Follow the early objectives in order

Finish the heating objective before making the pickaxe. Follow the cabin and cooking instructions, then continue toward the dog and your new home. Avoid repairing quest radio towers before their repair objective is active; early repairs can fail to register later.
