Troubleshooting
Permafrost crashes and performance fixes
Try targeted graphics and launch changes for crashes, low FPS, and long-session slowdowns.

Change one setting at a time
Update your graphics driver, then open Settings → Video. Test with Multi Frame Generation Type off and Super Resolution off. Lower the graphics preset and test VSync separately.
Compare the same area after each change. These options can help isolate a rendering problem, but are not guaranteed fixes for every GPU.
Crash during launch
In Steam, open Properties → General → Launch Options and try:
-dx11
Test launching again. Remove the option if it makes the game behave worse.
FPS falls during a long session
Save and restart the game. If a save-name issue is involved, use letters and numbers instead of special characters for a new save name. This is not a recovery method for every damaged save.
FSR is unavailable on an RTX card
FSR has been disabled for RTX 20, 30, 40, and 50 series configurations in the affected game setup. Do not force an unsupported option back on to solve another graphics issue.
Still crashing
Record whether the crash happens at launch, during loading, or after time in a world, and note the graphics settings you changed. Use that distinction when reporting the problem instead of changing multiple settings at once. For connection rather than rendering problems, see co-op setup.
