How to mine Moon Rock in Permafrost

Use a Quality Pickaxe

Moon Rock requires the Quality Pickaxe, also described as the quality iron pickaxe. The descriptions on Iron and Refined Iron Pickaxes can be misleading; those tools are not the reliable route for mining it.

Look for the Quality Pickaxe in Bunker 21. This pickup is separate from the Crow’s Nest reward used to unlock the Professional Smelter.

Where to look

Moon Rock boulders occur around the Woods, Solar Fields, and Crater. Use the interactive map to narrow the search, then inspect the boulder and your equipped tool in-game.

A boulder can yield roughly 5–7 Moon Rock under the updated mining values. Do not treat a map marker count as a resource total or assume deposits respawn.

Preparing for clothing

The Lunar set uses Moonrock Ingots alongside Cloth and Quality Metal. Keep raw Moon Rock and processed ingots separate when checking your inventory; the tailoring recipes need the ingots.
